Black Salem
Black Salem was a band composed by Lux Airam (Ville Valo), Miguelo (midge) and Daniel Lioneye (Mikko Lindstrom). On 7th September they played at the Tavastia Klubi in Helsinki with The Skreppers. They played 6 new songs before they were released: "Buried Alive By Love", "Beyond Redemption", "Sweet Pandemonium", "Soul On Fire", "The Sacrament", "The Funeral Of Hearts".
They used this name because there were name problems with HIM/HER names.
Thulsa Doom
HIM used this name in May 2001 while being 'the opening act' for the 69 Eyes at Tavastia.

TRIBUTE TO TURBONEGRO - Gli H.I.M., nel 2000, hanno inciso una cover della canzone Rendez-Vous with Anus per un album tributo ai Turbonegro, Alpha Motherfuckers (uscito il 26 Giugno 2001).
NELJÄ RUUSUA - Ville Valo è apparso nel video della band finlandese Neljä Ruusua. La canzone era Hunningolla (album Popmuseo realizzato nel 1998).

THE SKREPPERS - Ville, Migé e Lily fanno da backing-vocals in alcune canzoni dell'album degli Skreppers Hedonist Hellcats (uscito il 26 Agosto 2002). Ville ha anche scritto alcune parti del testo della canzone Soon Someone Is Crying. Alcuni membri della band fanno parte anche dei Daniel Lioneye, sideproject di Lily, Ville e Migé.
Nel 2004,Ville Valo partecipa nuovamente ad un album dei The Skreppers. Ville ha fatto i backing-vocals per l'album degli Skreppers The Call Of The Trash nelle tracce: Doctor Feelgood, Let's Die Together Sheena, Jesus Saved My Sexlife e 5 Shake It Baby. L'album è stato registrato nei Karillo Studios di Porvoo, Finlandia. L'album è uscito il 25 Agosto 2004.
LULLACRY - Ville ha scritto il testo della canzone Whispers In The Chaos per il loro album Sweet Desire.

TO SEPARATE THE FLESH FROM THE BONES - Gas suona con Pasi Koskinen e Niclas Etelävuori degli Amorphis nella band To Separate The Flesh From The Bones. Il suo nome nella band è Pus Sypope. L'album s'intitola For Those About The Rot.
JEFF WALKER - Gas e Ville hanno preso parte alla registrazione del frontman dei Carcass Jeff Walker, che sta attualmente registrando un album solista che consiste esclusivamente in covers country e blues di artisti quali Skeeter Davis, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, John Denver e Connie Smith. Walker ha già registrato i contributi del chitarrista dei Carcass e del frontman dei Firebird Bill Steer (chitarra, armonica, voci), dei chitarristi degli Amorphis Esa Holopainen e Tomi Koivusaari, del tastierista Santeri Kallio e del bassista Niclas Etelävuori. Walker pianifica anche di contattare il vocalist dei Cathedral Lee Dorrian, l'ex bassista dei Faith No More Billy Gould, i membri dei Liverpudlians Anathema, e il batterista dei Carcass Ken Owen. Walker spera di realizzare l'album per l'anno prossimo visto che ha già trovato una casa discografica. Walker appare anche come guest nel progetto parallelo To Sepereate the Flash from the Bones del quale fa parte Gas
STRATOVARIUS - Gas ed altri batteristi metal appaiono nel primo solo-album del frontman degli Stratovarius Timo Kotipelto. Il titolo dell'album è Waiting For The Dawn, Gas è citato nella titletrack e suona in Arise.
DANIEL LIONEYE - I Daniel Lioneye sono il sideproject degli HIM: alla voce Linde, al basso invece Migè e Ville alla batteria. I temi trattati si discostano parecchio da quelli abituali degli HIM in quanto le tematiche principali sono le classiche dell'hard rock: sesso, alcool e rock 'n' roll. Nulla di impegnativo comunque, in quanto la band si esibisce in un paio di concerti tutti in terra finnica e pubblicano un solo CD nel 2001 (tra l'altro non preventivato): The King of Rock'n Roll. Inoltre la band è conosciuta anche col nome di Daniel Lioneye and the Rollers e Daniel Lioneye and the Blues Explosion.
BLACK SALEM - I Black Salem sono una band, i cui membri sono Lux Airam (Ville), Miguelo (Migé) e Daniel Lioneye (Linde). Il 7 Settembre 2002 i Black Salem hanno suonato al Tavastia Klubi come band di supporto agli The Skreppers. I Black Salem hanno suonato 6 nuove canzoni, ancora sconosciute e irrealizzate, degli HIM: Buried Alive By Love, Beyond Redemption, Sweet Pandemonium, Soul On Fire, The Sacrament, The Funeral Of Hearts. Prima del concerto Ville ha spiegato che i ragazzi avrebbero usato questo nuovo nome temporaneamente a causa del problema H.I.M./ H.E.R.
THULSA DOOM - Gli H.I.M. hanno usato questo pseudonimo per il loro concerto come warm-up per The 69 Eyes il 25 Maggio 2001 al Tavastia Klubi di Helsinki. Hanno suonato delle canzoni tratte da Deep Shadows & Brilliant Highlights e delle canzoni (in versione riarrangiata) di Razorblade Romance e Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666. Questa band è citata nell'MCD di Pretending. Nel booklet di Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights si può leggere quanto segue: "Coverartwork by Natas Pop in collaboration with Thulsa D".
RESIDENT EVIL: APOCALYPSE - La Roadrunner Records ha realizzato l'album che contiene la colonna sonora del film della Sony Pictures Resident Evil: Apocalypse, che è uscito negli USA il 10 Settembre 2004. La canzone degli H.I.M. presente è Join Me (In Death).
